Altera's Arria GX FPGAs Receive Broad Industry Recognition

Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) today announced the Arria GX family of low-cost, transceiver-equipped FPGAs has received two distinguishing industry recognitions.

From the EN-Genius Network (www.en-genius.net), Arria GX FPGAs received the annual Product of the Year award for Best Value High-Performance FPGA. Winners were selected in 29 different product categories from the hundreds of products reviewed in 2007 by EN-Genius.

Product of the Year awards are based on the personal opinion of the EN-Genius editorial staff, said EN-Genius editor-in-chief Paul McGoldrick. "We believe these award-winning products will make significant contributions to the bottom line numbers for the companies involved based on their strong technical merit, design innovation and marketability.

From EDN magazine (www.edn.com), Arria GX FPGAs were named to its annual Hot 100 Products list in the digital and programmable ICs category. Products appearing in EDN's annual Hot 100 Products issue are chosen by its editors from hundreds of newsworthy items appearing in EDN throughout 2007.

"Our editorial team covers new product introductions on a daily basis and we see a lot of worthy products," said EDN editorial director Maury Wright. "We look back once a year and choose the introductions that we believe will have the greatest significance to the design engineer and create the Hot 100 list."

About the Arria GX FPGA Family

The Arria GX family is optimized for the most popular serial protocols: PCI Express (PCIe) x1 and x4, Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and Serial RapidIO® (SRIO) protocols at speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. The five Arria GX family members range from 20K to 90K logic elements (LEs), and are backed by a comprehensive portfolio of software tools, intellectual property (IP), system models and reference designs.

With the introduction of the Arria GX family in May, we delivered a solution that enables a simplified transceiver-based design for applications requiring PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet and Serial RapidIO. Arria GX FPGAs allow designers to develop next-generation systems in the communications, storage, computer and industrial markets, said Danny Biran, senior vice president of corporate and product marketing at Altera. We are proud of these awards and the industry recognition for delivering innovative solutions.
