The agreement between the two entities will create new funding opportunities for local initiatives including the city’s public transportation overhaul, Project Connect, as well as improvements to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and plans to "cap and stitch" I-35 through the city’s core, covering portions of the existing highway to better connect the Central Business District to East Austin.
