Shell has signed agreements to deploy more than 800 MW of solar power generation in the U.K.

The company signed a framework agreement with Green Power to develop 700 MW of utility-scale solar projects with potential co-located battery storage. A separate agreement with Clearstone Energy will deploy 100 MW of utility-scale solar generating capacity in the South-East of England with potential co-located battery storage, as well.

“Shell is building an integrated power business which spans the renewable generation, trading, and supply of clean energy to businesses and consumers. We will work with both Island Green Power and Clearstone Energy to deliver high-quality solar PV projects to supply more of our UK customers with renewable power,” said David Bunch, chairman of Shell UK.

Shell has set a goal of becoming a net-zero emissions business by 2050. The company has 185,000 public electric vehicle charging stations in 35 countries, most recently announcing plans to install 50,000 charging stations in the U.K. by 2025.
