Dr. Kallol Guha has been recognized as one of 2020's 'Top 100 Visionaries in Education' by the Global Forum for Education and Learning.

CHICAGO, IL, June 11, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Kallol Guha, the CEO and Founder of Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM) has been recognized as one of 2020's 'Top 100 Visionaries in Education' by the Global Forum for Education and Learning (GFEL). This award recognizes the dedication and sacrifices Dr. Guha has made towards education by creating an environment that is merit-based and yet affordable for students, guiding SJSM towards becoming one of the leading Caribbean medical schools.

Dr. Guha started his career at another medical school in the Caribbean in 1979 as a professor, after completing his Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and DSc in Anatomy from the University of Kuopio, Finland. From there, he worked at several other leading Caribbean medical schools where he gained experience as a professor, as well as key insights into the administrative process. These experiences led him to the belief that an education system should focus on the student by giving every deserving candidate the chance to pursue their dream of becoming a doctor, irrespective of background, while keeping costs affordable. Formally, Dr. Guha founded SJSM in 1999. It is interesting to note that the offshore schooling industry is no more than 45 years old and Dr. Guha has dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to improving education in Caribbean medical schools as a whole and SJSM in particular.

According to Dr. Guha, this award solidifies his conviction that quality education can and should be provided to deserving students, no matter their backgrounds. He has thanked the GFEL organizing committee for bestowing this honor on him, and his wife who has steadfastly stood by him for over 50 years.

Dr. Guha will be honored in an award ceremony to be held in Las Vegas from June 23rd to June 25th, with other prominent leaders from the education industry in attendance.
