Now more than ever every business owner knows that they need to be online and have a presence, otherwise they will lose valuable business, especially new business. But that’s only half the battle. Business owners should be aiming to build an e-mail list and the best way to do that is to have a sign up form on your website.

What is a sign up form on a website? The same thing as a form on actual paper except now you make that form digital and part of your website. Just like paper forms, they can be long or they can be short. Short forms can be a simple form with just one line that asks for a potential customer’s email address.

You can hire someone to make you a website or build one yourself on WordPress. Whichever option you choose, make sure to create a sign up form. Also include a headline with a reason why visitors should sign up to your email list and a call to action. The call to action on a sign up form is usually a button with text on it, for example, “Get Instant Access”

Once you start building an e-mail list, you can use software to send out automated e-mails to your new subscribers without having to do each e-mail manually. That’s another topic for another day but step number one is to get the e-mail address. Without that vital piece of information, every other step in the process is useless and you have unnecessarily lost yourself a potential client.

With very few exceptions, the easier you make it to capture e-mail addresses the easier your life will be and the more leads you will be able to convert to paid, returning customers.

You can get your very own sign up form for your website here.
