The most recent U.S. dietary guidelines recommend that men should not regularly drink more than two standard drinks per day, and women should not regularly drink more than one. A standard drink contains 0.6 fluid ounces of pure alcohol, which is 1.5 oz of spirits (40% ABV), 5 oz. of wine (12% ABV), and 12 oz. of regular beer (5% ABV).
