With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients and a farm-to-table ethos, the seafood menu selections are a continuation of the eatery’s commitment to providing inventive, innovative experiences for diners in and around Reading, MA.

Post 1917 is the project of head chef and owner Jason Carron, who has accumulated over two decades of experience as a hospitality consultant and culinary advisor to the New England community. After working with hundreds of other restaurants over the years, Carron opened Post 1917 as his own steakhouse and seafood establishment in the early part of 2024.

With accolades for its unique fine-dining ambiance, as well as for its menus, Post 1917 has received attention from several regional publications, including Boston Man Magazine and Northshore Magazine. In reviewing the restaurant’s crab cakes, the Northshore Magazine critic stated, “The crab cake was so overstuffed with colossal crab that I was astounded it stuck together in the pan. The lobster sauce beneath it read like traditional Américaine, and that’s a compliment of the highest order.”

In addition to the fresh seafood selection, critics also comment on Post 1917’s rib-eye steak, which is “tender enough to cut with a butter knife,” and comes with a flight of specialty sauces, including roasted bone marrow butter, peppercorn sauce, blue cheese butter, Post steakhouse sauce, and a tarragon Béarnaise.

Patrons can supplement their meals with a wide selection from the Post 1917 drinks menu, with wine, beer, and cocktail options available, including highlights from local breweries.

Customers have positive reviews for Post 1917 and their fresh seafood and steak menu items. “We went there for an anniversary dinner and were impressed,” says Cass R. “Beautiful interior, great ambiance. The steaks were wet-aged and delicious. We had the lamb lollipops and bacon as appetizers, and they were wonderful. Cocktails were inventive and yummy. We definitely recommend Post 1917 for a delicious and impressive dinner spot!”
