The credit that 1099 employees, freelancers, contractors, Uber drivers, and other self-employed businessowners can apply for is known as the SETC (Self Employed Tax Credit) due to its similarities with the ERTC (Employee Retention Tax Credit.)

However, the correct term is Credits for Sick Leave and Family Leave, and, just like with the ERTC, claims are being closely monitored by the IRS, which urges taxpayers to check with a qualified tax professional if they qualify before filing a claim.

ERTC Express helps self-employed workers find out if they qualify, how much they can apply for, and files the claim on their behalf so that they can rest assured it has been handled correctly.

“With most other companies, you're lucky if you have even one CPA process your claim. ‘The Power of Three’ is our accounting process to provide bulletproof ERTC filings by having three different CPA teams cross-check your final refund amount before submitting your claim,” a company spokesperson said.

As explained by the work and family legal center A Better Balance, self-employed workers could claim up to $511 per day for a maximum of 10 sick days, depending on their average daily income. The Credits for Sick Leave and Family Leave also include 67% of daily income for 50 days of family leave (with a cap of $200 per day) and 67% of the average daily rate for 10 days for caretaking responsibilities (maximum $200/day.)

The different categories of paid leave have certain qualifications, and it’s important to note that the deadline for the 2020 tax period passed on the 15th of April this year. It’s still possible to make claims for 2021 until the 15th of April 2025.

To begin a claim, self-employed workers can fill out an online form on ERTC Express' website. The non-obligation questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and only has non-invasive questions.
