What is the market telling us

Monster’s shares are not very volatile and have only had 2 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 12 months ago when the stock gained 5.9% on the news that the company reported strong third-quarter financial results that surpassed Wall Street's expectations. The energy drink maker posted revenue of $2.20 billion, up 16.8% year-on-year and beating analyst estimates of $2.11 billion. The company's bottom line was also impressive, with adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.56 easily clearing the consensus forecast of $0.48. Profitability saw a significant boost as well; Monster's operating margin increased to 30.7%, a notable jump from 25.5% in the same quarter last year. The strong top- and bottom-line beats demonstrated the company's continued growth and operational efficiency, boosting investor confidence.

Monster is up 21.3% since the beginning of the year, and at $46.18 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $49.97 from July 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Monster’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $2,034.
