What happened?

Shares of digital analytics platform Amplitude (NASDAQ: AMPL) fell 1.4% in the morning session after the company reported third-quarter 2026 financial results that topped Wall Street expectations and raised its full-year earnings guidance.

According to a company press release, Amplitude generated $110.6 million in revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up 24.9% year over year. That figure exceeded Wall Street expectations of $107 million. Both results surpassed analyst consensus estimates of $3.75 million and $0.03 per share, respectively. Annual recurring revenue—a key metric tracking predictable subscription contracts—rose 24.2% to $431 million. Additionally, management raised its full-year adjusted earnings guidance to $0.08 per share at the midpoint and projected fourth-quarter revenue of $112 million at the midpoint, both topping consensus forecasts.

After the initial drop, the shares shed some of the losses and rose to $17.30, up 0.6% from the previous close.

What is the market telling us

Amplitude’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 43 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The previous big move we wrote about was 20 days ago when the stock dropped 6.8% on the news that investors shifted their focus from what AI technology can do toward concerns over how companies will finance it. Driven by these escalating AI funding fears and elevated interest rates, CNBC noted that a massive rotation out of the sector erased more than $1 trillion from the world's largest semiconductor and AI-related stocks this week.

Amplitude is up 57.9% since the beginning of the year, and at $17.30 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $17.44 from October 2026. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Amplitude’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $206.20.

ONE MORE THING: The $21 AI Application Stock Wall Street Forgot. While Wall Street obsesses over who’s building AI, one company is already using it to print money. And nobody’s paying attention.

AI chip stocks trade at ridiculous valuations. This company processes a trillion consumer signals monthly using AI and trades at a third of the price. The gap won’t last. The institutions will figure it out. You need to see this first. Read the FREE Report Before They Notice.
