After just two weeks of strategic search engine optimization, the acclaimed author and SEO expert climbed search engine results to outrank 14.6 million competitors for the keyword “smartest SEO.”

As the President of SEO National, Damon Burton has demonstrated his unparalleled expertise in strategic search engine optimization with his latest accomplishment: just two weeks after launching a campaign to rank for the competitive keyword “smartest SEO,” Burton has earned the #1 Google ranking. In his groundbreaking achievement, Burton outshined 14.6 million competing results.

The idea started as a challenge on Burton’s social media channel, with followers urging him to rank for fun, different SEO-related keywords. “Smartest SEO” got the most traction. Burton optimized his website to rank for the keyword and was featured by various media outlets. This led to the Los Angeles Tribune and other publications carrying Burton’s “Smartest SEO Strategies.” The more high-authority news sites picked up his features, the more name recognition and increased search engine visibility Burton earned.

“One of the biggest criticisms of search engine optimization is that it takes too long to work,” said Burton. “This experiment shows that it doesn’t have to take forever. Good SEO won’t happen overnight, but it can work very efficiently. And unlike digital ads, it’s an investment that won’t evaporate the moment you stop paying. With each investment in SEO, you’re boosting your website and building online authority. Those are assets that stick around long-term.”

Burton’s two-week ascent to the #1 ranking for “smartest SEO” and “smartest SEO consultant” was not just a domestic achievement. As Burton’s rankings climbed, global followers started logging in around the world and confirming his success: #1 in Canada, #1 in the Philippines, #1 in Spain, etc.

Burton started his career in SEO by outranking a billion-dollar company in just one week. In 2007, he launched SEO National, which has helped Shark Tank-featured startups, Inc. 5000 enterprises, and NBA retail divisions drive up their rankings without having to bleed money into pricey paid aid campaigns. Burton speaks internationally about digital marketing and organic traffic and is the author of the Amazon best-selling book, “Outrank: Your Guide to Making More Online by Showing up Higher on Search Engines and Outranking Your Competition.”
