Las Vegas’ Tingey Injury Law Firm Urges Caution Against Unsafe Fireworks
Trusted law firm with over five decades of experience warns of the dangers posed by fireworks accidents and urges residents to follow local safety measures.

With increasing demand for illegal fireworks in Clark County for Independence Day celebrations, Tingey Injury Law Firm warns Nevada residents against the significant consequences of ignoring legal and safety concerns.
For more than 50 years, Tingey Injury Law Firm’s accident injury attorneys have championed the greater-Las Vegas area residents who suffer financial and physical challenges due to the negligence of others. They help their clients recover losses from property damage, lost wages, and injury.
Roughly 19,000 complaints of illegal fireworks were received through Clark County’s “I Spy Fireworks” website in 2021 — up from 258 complaints reported around Independence Day in 2019. Illegal fireworks displays kept residents up through the night and into the early morning. For those who react strongly to the sound of explosions near their home, such as veterans with PTSD, people with pets who run away, families with children, and those worried about the fire hazard to their homes, the prolonged exposure causes considerable distress.
Fireworks must be purchased after June 28 from fire department approved sales booths selling only “safe and sane” products. “Safe and sane” products contain less than 50 milligrams of flash powder and remain on the ground. They include smokers, sparklers, whistlers and ground fountains. Fireworks that explode or fly into the air pose health and fire hazards that endanger the community.
Firm accident attorney Dean Tingey said that he has seen firsthand the damage caused by unsafe fireworks.
“Independence Day is a time of celebration, but we have seen it turn into painful burns and lasting injuries for some of our clients,” said Tingey.
U.S. News reported nine people died and 11,500 more were injured badly enough to end up in the emergency room in the United States during the 2021 Fourth of July celebrations.
Tingey Injury Law Firm is urging Las Vegas residents to protect themselves and their communities with the following precautions:
- Supervise children closely.
- Have water on standby with filled buckets or a hose.
- Set off fireworks in a flat area cleared of combustibles and away from buildings.
- Keep pets indoors to insulate them from the noise and prevent them from running away.
- Let used fireworks cool down and transport them to a bucket of water using a shovel to prevent burns.
- Don’t try to relight a failed firework as it could go off unexpectedly. Wait for it to cool and put it in the bucket of water.
