As the fall and holiday hosting season approaches, Bandpass Design is drawing attention to its Dresden table as a space-saving answer for households whose dining rooms must serve more than one role during the busiest entertaining months of the year.

The Dresden is a handcrafted, made-to-order board game dining table built from solid hardwood. It is designed to function as a standard dining table and to convert into a dedicated gaming surface without the need for a second piece of furniture. Removable dining leaves cover the top during meals and lift away to reveal a recessed gaming area beneath, allowing families and guests to move from a holiday dinner to a game night in the same space.

The recessed game vault also serves a practical purpose between gatherings. An in-progress board game or puzzle can remain set up in the lowered area and stay protected when the dining leaves are returned to the top, preserving the table for everyday meals.

The furniture category has seen steady interest in multifunctional pieces as homeowners look to make smaller and shared living spaces work harder. The Dresden fits that pattern by combining two commonly separate functions into a single table that can sit in a main dining room rather than a dedicated game room.

Each Dresden is handcrafted in the company's workshop in Edmonds, Washington. The table is available in multiple sizes and in wood options that include walnut, cherry, white oak, and maple, with customizable game fabric for the recessed surface. Built-in features include player stations, cup holders, and dice bins positioned around the gaming area.

"The dining room often becomes the center of a home during the holidays, and it rarely stays a dining room for long once the meal is finished," said AJ Hansen, Co-owner of Bandpass Design. "The Dresden was designed so that the same table hosting dinner can become the table for game night a few minutes later, without anyone needing to find a second surface or clear a room."

Hansen noted that the made-to-order approach allows each table to match the wood and finish of an existing dining space. "People want furniture that belongs in their main living area, not something that looks like it was built only for games," Hansen said. "Because each Dresden is handcrafted to order, the table reads as a dining table first and reveals its gaming features only when the leaves come off."

The Dresden is offered in three sizes to suit different household needs, with the number of player stations varying by size. The recessed game vault depth accommodates most standard board games and puzzles left mid-play beneath the dining surface.
