Little Engine Theater Launches with Reading at Four Seasons Tribeca
New York, New York--(Newsfile Corp. - December 2, 2024) - Little Engine Theater (LET) had its launch this November with a reading at the Four Seasons residences in Tribeca. LET is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) based in New York City founded by Elena Rusconi, Lilly Englert, and Theodora Miranne; all of whom are actors born outside of the United States and serve as co-artistic directors. The company takes its name from the children's book The Little Engine That Could and a combination of the initials of the founders first names.

The launch event featured readings of Cold Water by Philippa Lawford and Broken Water by Michèle Winstanley, both of whom flew in from England specifically for the event. The reading was directed by Michael Herwitz (JOB, Broadway) and starred Zach Appelman, Annie Funke, Carolyn McCormick, Caitlin O'Connell and Susannah Perkins.

The mission of Little Engine Theater is to support the development and production of plays written in English, as well as translations into English, by international authors who live and work outside of America and employ diverse theatrical vocabularies and points of view. LET is dedicated to producing plays that explore unconventional and underutilized locations, creating intimate and unique experiences for audiences.

"We want to give a platform to nuanced stories that invite you in not as spectators but as travelers into someone else's world, their experiences, and the rich layers of their cultures," co-founder Elena Rusconi said.

Following the success of their launch, Little Engine Theater is planning on hosting a pop up reading in January and is in the process of preparing for their first production in March.
