oXnames has added capacity for cloud VPS and dedicated server hosting at a Nottingham data centre, giving businesses and developers more options as their infrastructure needs grow.

-- oXnames has expanded its UK hosting infrastructure at a data centre in Nottingham, adding capacity for both cloud VPS and dedicated server services. The additional capacity is aimed at businesses, developers and online platforms that have outgrown shared hosting and need more control over their infrastructure as traffic and workloads increase.

Many growing websites and applications reach a point where shared hosting resources no longer meet their needs, whether due to rising traffic, more demanding software, or a requirement for dedicated resources that are not shared with other users. The expanded Nottingham capacity gives oXnames customers a central UK location to move into either a virtual private server or a fully dedicated physical machine as their requirements change.

The KVM Linux VPS service uses KVM virtualisation to give customers full root access and a dedicated IPv4 address, allowing independent control over the operating system and installed software without sharing resources at the kernel level. For workloads that require dedicated hardware, Dedicated Hosting is built on Dell PowerEdge servers, including the R640 model. A typical configuration includes an Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processor running at 3.20GHz with 8 cores and 16 threads, 32GB of ECC RAM, and two 500GB SSDs in software RAID, with options to upgrade to dual processors and up to four drives depending on configuration and availability. These dedicated servers are supplied on a self-managed basis, with management add-ons available separately for customers who want additional support.

Customers manage their services, billing and support conversations through the Knox customer portal, which provides centralised administration across both VPS and dedicated server accounts.

"This expansion gives us more room to support customers as their websites and applications grow," said Paul Oxby of oXnames. "Some need the flexibility of a KVM VPS; others need dedicated hardware for a demanding workload. Adding capacity in Nottingham gives us more options to match customers with a central location including the right setup, backed by people they can speak to when they need help."

The expanded VPS and dedicated server options are available now through oXnames, with customers able to select and configure services via the Knox portal.
