Xiamen, China, September 17, 2025 -- To advance deep cultural integration among young people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, the 2025 Cross-strait Youth Reading Season, hosted by Xiamen International Book Company (XIBC) Cultural Communication Co., Ltd., officially opened in Xiamen and ran from August 7 to 14, 2025. Under the theme "Classics Ignite, Futures in Sight," the program invited 55 young participants from Taiwan to join Xiamen's enthusiastic young readers in studying the Chinese classics. Through joint reading sessions and immersive cultural activities, the event fostered exchange among cross-strait youth and strengthened their sense of identification with Chinese culture.

This event innovatively embedded classic reading into diverse settings. At the Intangible Cultural Heritage Tea Culture Pavilion, cross-strait youth formed small groups for a "Book Blind Box: First Encounters with Literary Soulmates" exchange; on Zhongshan Road, paired participants engaged in "Discovering Xiamen's Time-Honored Brands" activities using the currently popular photo check-in format; at the Tatou Rural Innovation Fellowship Point of the Cross-Strait Integration Siming Reception Hall, they visited Tatou Community and hosted a reading sharing session titled "How a Good Book Comes into Being"; in evening reading circles, they conducted thematic reading salons where participants shared their reading insights with one another; and in their travel journals, they organized their travel experiences and reflections into written form. According to their feedback, what they saw and heard in Xiamen echoed the histories encountered in their books, broadening their cultural horizons and strengthening their emotional identification with the Chinese national community. Looking ahead, more initiatives will continue to advance cultural exchange programs for cross-strait youth, using culture as a bridge to write more inspiring stories of cross-strait exchanges.
