Richard A. Allen announces the release of his latest science fiction novel, Kobo’s Children, a sweeping saga of human survival and hope in the aftermath of alien domination and environmental catastrophe.

Set on a colonized Jupiter after the mysterious departure of the alien “jumbos,” Kobo’s Children follows a growing human community struggling to rebuild civilization while wrestling with the legacies of slavery, survival, and identity. At the heart of the story are characters like Ra, Dopey, and young Kobo—leaders, rebels, and dreamers whose choices will determine the fate of their people.

Blending vivid world-building with themes of resilience, loyalty, and the search for freedom, Allen invites readers into a universe both familiar and startling. From tense political struggles within the village of Eden to the haunting memories of alien captivity, Kobo’s Children explores what it means to be human in the shadow of greater powers.

“Science fiction has always been about asking what it means to survive—and thrive—when everything familiar is stripped away,” says Allen. “In Kobo’s Children, I wanted to show how memory, culture, and relationships can shape a people’s future even in the harshest conditions.”

Kobo’s Children is available now in paperback, hardcover, and eBook formats through major online retailers.
