Autonomous Precision in Every Pass: STORM Brings True Hands-Free Lawn Care Home

For years, robotic lawn mowers have promised hands-free yard work but often left homeowners disappointed. Most current models still rely on buried boundary wires, external GPS towers, or RTK signals. All of which are systems that can fail near buildings, in poor weather, or on large and complex lawns.

STORM, a new robotic mower launching on Indiegogo, aims to close that gap. It pairs 3D LiDAR laser mapping, a forward-facing camera, and an onboard processor to create a mower that operates autonomously, without the need for troublesome inputs from external guidance systems.

“We wanted to build something that genuinely works without constant oversight,” said Rose Radoc, a member of the STORM team. “This mower adapts to each lawn, run after run, without the common frustrations people have come to expect.”

Unlike many models that rely on static boundaries, STORM generates and continuously updates a 3D map of its environment. This allows it to maintain consistent mowing paths while avoiding common obstacles like trees, toys, or garden beds. The sensors are even sensitive enough to detect and steer clear of objects as small as a branch on the lawn.

Cut quality has also been a priority. STORM uses a 28 cm floating deck equipped with five bio-cut blades, with adjustable cutting heights ranging from 1.2 to 3.4 inches. Its ability to handle slopes of up to 45% makes it practical for more challenging terrain.

Control comes through a dedicated mobile app, where users can start or stop runs, set mowing zones, or block off restricted areas. Built-in GPS tracking provides security if the mower is moved without authorization.

Designed for year-round reliability, STORM carries an IPX5 waterproof rating and a high-capacity lithium battery for constant, reliable use. In wet weather, it automatically returns to its dock unless instructed otherwise.

The mower will debut on Indiegogo with a discounted price for early supporters, offering homeowners the chance to adopt the technology before its wider release.
