Karen DiCarlo Has Been Selected as Top Executive Director of the Year by IAOTP

Karen DiCarlo, Executive Director of Santa Claus, Inc, was recently selected as Top Executive Director of the Year for 2023 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With more than three decades of experience in the industry, Karen's passion has always been to help children in poverty. In 1986, she started volunteering at Santa Claus, Inc., and in 2012, she was appointed as the organization's first Executive Director. Managing the organization's operations and committed volunteers is definitely a "labor of love" for her.

Santa Claus, Inc. has expanded more than 1100% under Karen's leadership to offer vital necessities for over 200,000 children year-round via its Youth Enrichment Services (Yes!) and seasonal programs. She has established strong collaborative partnerships between Santa Claus, Inc. and a variety of national and international corporations, including FedEx, Bank of America, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Amazon, Walmart, Toyota, BNSF Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, Stater Bros. Charities, Good 360, In & Out Burger, Ross, Target, Delivering Good, United Way, The Community Foundation of SB and Riverside Counties, and others. Each year, crucial funding and millions of dollars in in-kind products are received at the Santa Claus, Inc. warehouse as a result of these partnerships, enabling the delivery of basic necessities to improve the lives of children in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. San Bernardino County is the largest county in the United States.

Before embarking on her professional career, Ms. DiCarlo attended San Bernardino Valley College where she obtained her Associates degree in English.

Throughout her illustrious career, Ms. Karen DiCarlo has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her accomplishments. Karen received the 2018 "Hero of the Heartland Award" from Stater Bros. Charities. The Sun Newspaper's "Outstanding Citizen Award" was handed to four SB County leaders during the Sun Newspaper's 100th-anniversary celebration, as well as the highly competitive 2016 "Social Entrepreneur of the Year" award at the CSUSB "Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards." She was also selected as California Senator Connie Leyva's "Woman of the Year" for the 21st Congressional District. She will be nominated for the Empowered Woman Award this year, as well as being highlighted in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She will be recognized as the Top Executive Director of the Year at the IAOTP's annual awards ceremony in December at the NYC Plaza Hotel.

In addition to her successful career, Karen DiCarlo believes that those who volunteer for nonprofit organizations develop lifelong ties. During her more than 30 years as a volunteer, she learned firsthand that the rewards to those who serve are just as significant as the advantages to those who receive.

The President of the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), Stephanie Cirami, stated: "Choosing Karen for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is inspirational, influential, and a true visionary and thought leader. We cannot wait to meet her and celebrate her accomplishments at this year's gala."

Looking back, Karen attributes her success to her perseverance, work ethic, and the mentors she has had along the way. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children and 10 grandchildren. In the future, she hopes to inspire and influence those getting into the field.
