Major General Maxwell spent 36 years as a Marine logistician, holding responsibility at the operating force, service, joint, and coalition levels before moving into the defense industrial base that supplies the force. He brings an end-to-end perspective on the decisions that deploy and sustain ready forces as Tagup expands its Manifest® platform across defense logistics missions and echelons.

“Major General Maxwell understands what it takes to sustain readiness across the entire force, from forward operations to the installations and infrastructure that make those operations possible,” said Jon Garrity, CEO of Tagup. “His experience leading logistics at the Marine Corps, joint, and enterprise levels will be invaluable as we help commanders make faster, better-informed sustainment decisions.”

Major General Maxwell retired from the Marine Corps in 2024 as Commander of Marine Corps Installations Command, where he led more than 26,000 Marines and civilians across 25 bases worldwide. Previously, Major General Maxwell served as Vice Director for Logistics on the Joint Staff, where his responsibilities included integrated logistics planning and execution in support of joint operations. His senior assignments also included Assistant Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics (Plans, Policies and Strategic Mobility); Commanding General, 2nd Marine Logistics Group; Combined Joint Director of Logistics for NATO Resolute Support in Afghanistan; and Commander, Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Earlier in his career, Major General Maxwell held logistics billets across the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, and at Marine Corps Forces Korea and U.S. European Command. He also deployed with 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his retirement, he served as Vice President for Safety and Security at BWX Technologies, a manufacturer of nuclear components and materials for commercial and defense applications.

“Installations, mobility, supply, and maintenance are often managed as separate functions and frequently in the moment, but their combined effect is readiness both today and into the future,” said Major General Maxwell. “In a complex environment, leaders need to see dependencies, tradeoffs, and be able to compare feasible courses of action to make decisions that address today’s needs while preserving maneuver space for tomorrow's decisions. That is the capability Tagup is delivering, and I look forward to helping the team scale it across the force.”

Major General Maxwell’s appointment builds on Tagup’s growing presence within the U.S. Marine Corps, including applications in aviation, ground, and medical logistics. Through its Manifest® platform, Tagup enables commanders and logisticians to simulate and optimize logistics courses of action across supply, maintenance, and mobilization.

Major General Maxwell joins a distinguished Defense Advisory Board of retired flag officers across the services who have commanded, modernized, and sustained forces at the highest levels. The board provides strategic guidance grounded in real-world operational experience, helping ensure Tagup’s technology remains deployable, trusted, and aligned with the demands of modern warfare.
