NEC CORPORATION OF AMERICA today announced that the Western Identification Network (WIN) has selected an upgrade to the latest release of Integra-ID® 7, NEC’s next-generation, cloud-native biometric identification platform. The upgrade modernizes WIN’s multi-state identification infrastructure with improved performance, enhanced security, and new biometric capabilities designed to support the evolving needs of law enforcement and public safety agencies across the western United States.

WIN, one of the nation’s largest regional biometric identification networks, will transition to the latest Integra-ID 7 cloud architecture to enable faster updates, improved scalability, and expanded biometric services while maintaining compliance with FBI CJIS Security Policy requirements.

“WIN has a long history of providing reliable, high-performance identification services to its member states,” said Chad Butler, Chief Executive Officer, WIN, “By upgrading to the latest release of Integra-ID 7, WIN is positioning its agencies to take advantage of cloud-native innovation, advanced biometrics, and continuous delivery of new capabilities without the disruption of traditional system upgrades.”

Modernizing Identification with Cloud-Native Integra-ID 7

The Integra-ID 7 upgrade introduces a modern, microservices-based architecture designed to improve system availability, simplify maintenance, and accelerate the delivery of new functionality. The new release provides:

Modern web-based user interface for the Integrated Biometric Workspace (IBW), improving usability and investigator efficiency

Improved system performance and scalability through integrated monitoring, automation, and cloud-native deployment

Seamless updates and modernization without disruptive downtime or forklift data migrations and upgrades

Faster issue resolution enabled by modular microservices and automated testing

Regular feature releases and security updates with minimal operational impact

Enhanced user experience allowing agencies to focus on investigations instead of system management

Expanded Biometric and Investigative Capabilities

As part of the upgrade, WIN will gain new functionality not available in previous releases, including:

ACE-V web applications for analysis, comparison, evaluation, and verification in latent case processing

Case-based searching to streamline investigative workflows

Enhanced administrative and supervisory tools

Improvements based on FBI CJIS Security Policy updates

Iris biometric template storage and matching

Automated algorithm updates using NEC’s latest NIST-tested matching technology

Storage and matching of scars, marks, and tattoos (SMT)

Expanded biometric search capabilities across multiple modalities

These enhancements will allow WIN member agencies to perform more comprehensive searches, accelerate investigations, and support new biometric modalities without requiring major system changes.

Supporting WIN’s Mission for the Future

The Integra-ID 7 cloud platform enables WIN to shift from traditional on-premises system maintenance to a modern, continuously updated environment that delivers new capabilities faster while reducing operational burden.

“NEC CORPORATION OF AMERICA is proud to support the Western Identification Network in its mission to provide reliable, secure, and advanced identification services to its member states,” said Eugene Le Roux, Senior Vice President, NEC CORPORATION OF AMERICA. “With the latest release of Integra-ID 7, WIN gains a cloud-native platform designed to keep pace with evolving security requirements, deliver continuous innovation, and ensure agencies have the modern biometric tools they need to solve cases faster and operate with greater confidence.”
