RLI Corp. (NYSE: RLI) today announced the promotion of four leaders, effective immediately.

Kathleen Taylor Promoted to Vice President, Controller & Treasurer

Kathleen Taylor, Vice President, Accounting and Branch Operations, has been promoted to Vice President, Controller & Treasurer. In this expanded role, she will oversee RLI’s Financial Accounting, Reinsurance Accounting, Tax Accounting and Treasury teams.

Taylor joined RLI in 2002 as a Reinsurance Administrator and has since held several accounting and operations leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President, Accounting and Branch Operations. She has 30 years of experience in accounting, finance and insurance. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Illinois University, is a certified public accountant and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.

Katie Kappes Promoted to Chief Administrative Officer

Katie Kappes, Vice President, Human Resources, has been promoted to Chief Administrative Officer. She will provide strategic leadership for key corporate support functions, including Human Resources, Branch Operations, Facilities, Print & Mail and Corporate Secretary.

Kappes joined RLI in 2006 as a Compensation & Benefits Accountant and has since held several human resources leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President, Human Resources. She has 24 years of experience in human resources and insurance. Kappes holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Bradley University, is a certified public accountant and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.

Amy Braet Promoted to Vice President, Human Resources

Amy Braet, Assistant Vice President, Talent Management, has been promoted to Vice President, Human Resources. She will lead RLI’s Human Resources organization, with responsibility for talent strategy, organizational development and the employee experience.

Braet joined RLI in 2005 as an intern and has since held roles of increasing responsibility, most recently serving as Assistant Vice President, Talent Management. She has 21 years of experience in human resources and the insurance industry. Braet holds a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration from Bradley University and holds the Professional in Human Resources, Certified Compensation Professional and Certified Benefits Professional designations.

Ross Edwards Promoted to Vice President, Claim Counsel

Ross Edwards, Assistant Vice President, Claim Counsel, has been promoted to Vice President, Claim Counsel. In his new role, he will have executive leadership responsibility for and oversight of company claim-related litigation.

Edwards joined RLI in 2017 as Claim Manager and has since held several claim leadership roles, including Claim Director; Assistant Vice President, Claim; and Assistant Vice President, Claim Counsel. He has 18 years of experience in law and insurance claims. Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University Bloomington and a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology.
