Certification reinforces Actiontec’s commitment to open broadband platforms and greater service-provider flexibility for the market and its customers

Actiontec, a leading provider of broadband connectivity solutions, today announced that its WF-728A/WF-728N Wi-Fi 7 gateways have achieved prplWare Certification for prplWare 4.2.1. The devices passed all required technical criteria, with results reviewed by the prpl Foundation’s Certification Review Committee.

The certification validates compliance with prpl’s required software interfaces and network functionality, giving broadband providers full confidence when evaluating Actiontec gateways for prpl-based deployments. A standardized software foundation can simplify integration and help operators reduce the complexity of supporting different gateway platforms.

By combining Wi-Fi 7 connectivity with prplWare’s open software architecture, Actiontec provides a foundation for evolving broadband services. The platform supports a flexible approach to gateway management and integrating value-added applications, such as enhanced security from F-Secure. Certification also lays the foundation for developing Wi-Fi 8 and other next-generation Wi-Fi platforms.

“Our customers need to bring new services to market faster while keeping integration and operating costs under control,” said Alex Leibovich, President of Actiontec. “With products certified by the prplWare Foundation, we can help providers reduce integration effort and expand their services with greater flexibility. That creates opportunities to significantly improve the subscriber experience, differentiate their broadband offerings, and develop new sources of revenue.”

This milestone advances Actiontec’s commitment to delivering broadband platforms that combine connectivity, manageability, and an open ecosystem for service innovation.
