New name marks the company's transformation into the centralized treasury platform and AI-powered intelligence engine government and nonprofit finance teams rely on

DebtBook, a treasury and accounting software provider for government and nonprofit organizations, today announced its rebrand to Monetary. The new name reflects the company’s expansion from debt management software to a unified platform for managing debt, cash, and investments, with an AI analyst built to work alongside every public finance team it serves.

More than 2,000 government and nonprofit organizations use Monetary, with $600 billion in public sector debt managed on its platform. The rebrand brings the company's identity in line with the scope of work it now carries for those customers.

“Our customers manage debt, cash, and investments as parts of the same job, and they need tools that connect those capabilities,” said Tyler Traudt, CEO of Monetary. “We built beyond debt management because our customers asked us to. Monetary is the name for the company we've become and where we’re going.”

The platform integrates probabilistic AI and trusted deterministic business logic — every calculation traceable, every output reconcilable, every action left for a person to approve.

A broader treasury platform

Founded in 2019 to help the public sector manage debt, DebtBook evolved alongside its customers' needs, adding lease and subscription accounting software supporting compliance with GASB 87, GASB 96, and ASC 842, followed by cash and investment management. As Monetary, the company now gives finance teams a single financial record across all of it, the first time debt, cash, and investments have lived on one platform built specifically for how public finance teams work.

Monetary is also introducing a new Capital Markets product for banks and municipal advisors, extending its platform to the professionals who help government and nonprofit finance teams access capital.

AI built for public finance

Monetary compounds the value of its offering for public finance teams by taking the industry leading deterministic treasury platform it has developed and fully integrating it with a best-in-class, domain-specific intelligence. That intelligence allows government and nonprofit organizations to leverage trusted AI so they can work faster, cement institutional knowledge, fight fraud, grow investment income, and reduce borrowing costs.

Meet Marty. Marty, Monetary’s AI analyst, acts as a force multiplier for finance teams already stretched thin. Automating routine data work, preparing financial reports and journal entries, Marty leverages the same deterministic system and same data warehouse as finance teams themselves are using in Monetary, so that teams can trust that Marty’s answers will be accurate, consistent and compliant.

Beyond Marty, intelligence runs through the whole platform, with AI-surfaced insights appearing in dashboards throughout the Monetary TMS. Top-line KPI cards give finance teams an executive-level view of their position across cash, debt, and investments every morning, showing cash on hand, total debt outstanding, investment holdings, and more, each with the context that makes the number mean something. Below them, every domain opens into charts and AI callouts that flag anomalies, idle cash, and upcoming obligations automatically.

"Finance teams are being asked to do more while budgets tighten and experienced colleagues retire," Traudt said. "Relying on legacy tools to manage that kind of pressure isn't just inefficient — it's a risk these communities can't afford. Our job is to give these teams more capacity and capability. Time saved and dollars put to better use show up in real places: more teachers in a classroom, safer roads, clean water, an ambulance that shows up in time."

The rebrand changes the company's name and visual identity. It does not involve an acquisition, merger, or change in ownership, and customers' contract terms, data, and the team supporting them remain unchanged.
