Teen and Young-Adult Mental Health Platform BeMe Announces Miami Heat Rookie Keshad Johnson as Brand Ambassador

BeMe Health, a leading digital behavioral health platform for teens and young adults has named NBA rookie Keshad Johnson of the Miami Heat as a BeMe brand ambassador, marking the company’s first ever partnership with a professional athlete.

Founded in 2021, BeMe is a mobile mental health platform designed to improve the well-being of teens and young adults. BeMe turns young people’s phone habit into a health benefit, serving as their trusted companion for managing stress and anxiety. Created by clinicians and perfected by a Teen Advisory Board of nearly 200 teens and young adults, the platform brings together the best aspects of digital media, real, human support with trained professional coaches via in-app messaging, and clinical linkage.

Miami Heat rookie Keshad Johnson is a dynamic basketball player from Oakland, California, known for his athleticism, defensive prowess, and versatility on the court. After making a name for himself as a standout at San Diego State University, where he helped lead the Aztecs to the NCAA Championship game in 2023, Johnson transferred to the University of Arizona where he played a pivotal role in the Wildcats’ success. After being signed to the Miami Heat in a Two-Way Contract in July 2024, his dynamic playmaking ability was on full display on the team’s G League affiliate averaging 21 points, 8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, leading to his official signing to the Miami Heat this past December.

Johnson’s passion for mental health advocacy stems from personal adversity that he faced at just 10 years old. After his older brother, Kenny, a gifted basketball player, survived a traumatic shooting that left him paralyzed, Keshad’s life changed forever. To cope and support his family he found the utmost strength and courage, and, in his brother’s honor, he decided to pursue basketball professionally.

Johnson will begin appearing on behalf of BeMe platforms and in-person community events in the Miami area beginning this month.

“My journey motivates me to support and inspire young people to get the support they need to preserve against all odds.” Johnson said. “That’s why I’m honored to be part of the BeMe family, and am excited to share all of the ways that it can help young people’s mental well-being with my community.”

“BeMe is truly privileged to have Keshad serve as a BeMe brand ambassador,” said Dr. Nicoletta Tessler, CEO + Co-Founder of BeMe Health. “Not only is he a ridiculously talented athlete making waves in BeMe’s hometown of Miami, but what really excites me is his authenticity, remarkable character and unparalleled passion that truly transcends sports. I can’t think of a better role model for the young people that BeMe serves. ”
