UserTesting Announces Chief Executive Officer Leadership Transition
CEO Andy MacMillan to Step Down; Eric Johnson, Seasoned Enterprise Software Executive, Appointed CEO
UserTesting, a leader in experience research and insights, today announced that Eric Johnson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. He succeeds CEO Andy MacMillan, who has stepped down after successfully leading the Company for over six years. MacMillan will continue to support UserTesting in an advisory capacity and remain an investor.
Johnson has over two decades of leadership experience in market-leading enterprise software companies. Most recently, Johnson served as CEO for Nintex, where he executed the Company’s transformation into a strategic, enterprise platform for broad-based process automation. Key to this transformation was the successful completion and integration of five acquisitions. Under his leadership, Nintex achieved industry leading customer satisfaction scores and was certified a Great Place to Work. Johnson previously served in leadership roles at Jive Software and Serena Software.
“Andy has been an incredible partner to us and leader of UserTesting from its early beginnings to a $300MM+ category leader today,” said A.J. Rohde, Senior Partner at Thoma Bravo. “We had a very successful run with Eric as our partner in Nintex, and I am so thrilled to add him to the UserTesting story. UserTesting created, defined and expanded its category for a decade-plus, and with Eric as our CEO, we have a chance to truly create the leading end-to-end platform for insights and feedback into the entire product creation and execution process.”
"It is a privilege to lead UserTesting into its next chapter, building on the strong foundation that Andy and the leadership team have established,” said Eric Johnson. “UserTesting stands at the cusp of a tremendous market opportunity, especially as more organizations prioritize reducing quality costs and enhancing customer experiences. UserTesting is revolutionizing how companies create better products by capturing human insights and leveraging the voice of the customer earlier in the development process, before problems adversely impact customers.”
“Working closely with UserTesting’s executive leadership team, the Board, our employees, customers and partners has been a hugely rewarding experience, and I’m proud of what we have all accomplished together to put UserTesting on a strong path for further success,” said Andy MacMillan. “The merger with UserZoom was a defining moment for UserTesting that united two industry-leading platforms and laid a strong foundation for future growth and success. I have complete confidence in Eric’s ability to lead UserTesting to future long-term growth and innovation, and I look forward to continuing to support the Company as a Senior Advisor.”
About UserTesting
UserTesting is fundamentally changing the way digital products and experiences are built and delivered by helping organizations get insights from customers–from concept to execution. Built on top of a world-class, on-demand sourcing engine, customers can receive fast, high quality, opt-in feedback from both our proprietary and partner-sourced audience networks around the world. UserTesting offers the industry's most comprehensive experience research and insights solution. Unlike approaches that track user behavior or collect customer listening data on live experiences, then try to infer what that data means, UserTesting enables companies to get input directly from customers–earlier in the process–helping to reduce guesswork and bringing experience data to life with human insight. The company, formed through the combination of UserTesting & UserZoom, has more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including 75 of the Fortune 100 companies. To learn more, visit www.usertesting.com.
