Calling all women in journalism: PureSquare is offering free cybersecurity products in honor of Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women's Day (IWD), PureSquare announced its commitment to #EmbraceEquity, the 2023 IWD theme, by offering cybersecurity products to women journalists around the world free of cost.

In a press release issued today, the company announced it was offering a suite of its products – PureVPN, PureKeep, PurePrivacy and PureEncrypt – to female journalists in an effort to empower them to continue doing their important work without any fears.

“At PureSquare, we believe that true equity requires more than just words or symbolic gestures. It requires tangible action. As a cybersecurity company, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to help create a more equitable online world,” said Uzair Gadit, Co-Founder and CEO of PureSquare.

As part of the initiative, women journalists are encouraged to apply for their suite of free tools via PureSquare’s online portal. Journalists will be required to fill out a short form on PureSquare’s official website. The form requires contact details and a 100-word write-up about why they need these tools. The PureSquare team will review all applications and select the recipients based on their need and eligibility.

Why cybersecurity tools are essential for reporters

According to the UN, 73% of women journalists who responded had experienced online violence in the course of their work. The company believes that every woman journalist should have the tools to protect themselves and their work online, and in a world where online harassment and cyberbullying are rampant, supporting their rights to free speech and free press without a threat is essential. The products on offer are listed below:

  • PureVPN secures the connection so that no potential threat can intercept and leak sensitive information of journalists who are already privy to news on diverse subjects.
  • PureKeep is a password manager that securely stores all passwords and other information in an encrypted form, while allowing access to accounts quickly and securely with just one master password.
  • PurePrivacy is a social audit tool which allows journalists to take control of their social media presence and how to best use it to their advantage.
  • PureEncrypt is a cloud storage that prevents unauthorized access to your information, personal or otherwise.

This initiative is built upon PureSquare’s previous campaign on mental wellness and is part of a broader commitment to embrace equity and create a safer digital space for women around the world.

“We believe in the principle of equity and want to empower women by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed in the digital world," said Gadit.
