Amplify POC focuses on creating greater opportunity and a future of generational wealth for communities of color

Eastern Bank Foundation is pleased to announce Amplify POC Cape Cod (Amplify POC) as a 2022 Community Advocacy Award honoree for its programming, education and resources that help increase sustainable business ownership for people of color (POC) on Cape Cod.

“Amplify POC exists to eliminate the racial wealth gap and create opportunities for communities of color to build generational wealth. Our programs and services are designed to ensure communities of color are not only sustained but also successful and thriving,” said Tara Vargas Wallace, Founder and Executive Director of Amplify POC Cape Cod.

Amplify POC works to remove barriers created by systemic racism and support communities of color with wealth building and economic opportunities. Its programs include helping entrepreneurs of color with seed money to start a business, and educational programming and visibility to foster collaboration and support with POC-owned businesses.

“Amplify POC is creating a more equitable Cape Cod by developing an ecosystem of support where communities of color have increased wealth building opportunities and greater opportunity to thrive through business ownership,” said Nancy Huntington Stager, President and CEO of the Eastern Bank Foundation. “This includes a marketplace for business owners to promote and sell their products and services, and connect with other local businesses, allies and partners, all while helping to reduce the racial wealth gap on Cape Cod.”

The celebration of Eastern’s Community Advocacy Award coincides with the Eastern Bank Foundation’s commitment to economic inclusion and mobility through its philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy, including to advance equity in the small business ecosystem. Recognizing that entrepreneurs and business owners are building blocks for the local economy, the Foundation seeks to fund organizations that build ecosystems of support for business owners in historically disadvantaged communities, including Black, Latinx, Asian, women, LGBTQ+, Veterans and people with disabilities.
