Fiber Veteran Jason Maples Joins Segra
Strengthening the Sales Team to Serve WISP and Hyperscaler Market
Segra announces Jason Maples has been named Senior National Account Executive, strengthening the carrier sales team with a wealth of expertise to serve the wireless internet service provider (WISP) and hyperscaler segments.
With more than two decades in the telecommunications industry, Maples’ experience spans residential, commercial and carrier verticals; as well as government partnerships, rural broadband expansion, and grant applications at the federal and state level. He has served the industry as an independent contractor, vice president of sales & marketing with BalsamWest FiberNET, and in various positions on the carrier sales team with Charter Communications. Among his accomplishments at Charter, Maples managed two of the company’s largest accounts and developed a regional carrier partnership that led to the creation of a new product line and, ultimately, the acquisition of the partner.
Segra Chief Revenue Officer Ed Aaronson expressed his excitement for Maples joining the team, “Jason’s deep, well-rounded industry experience will definitely benefit our customers as we assist them to expand, grow and manage their businesses.”
“The WISP and Hyperscaler spaces are dynamic high growth segments in the market,” said Aaronson. “Segra already plays well in both of these segments, and with the addition of Jason, we will be positioned to provide even more support to these customers.”
Recent industry reports suggest many WISPs are evolving to a fiber-first business model in the wake of rising construction costs, staffing struggles, and spectrum questions. The influx of private and government broadband funding appears to be presenting a tipping point, pushing many to begin overbuilding their networks with fiber. On a similar growth trajectory is the hyperscale data center market, which continues to be driven by the rising demand for data center colocation facilities.
“The addition of Jason and the additional support for WISPs and Hyperscalers is another example of Segra’s commitment to support the evolving market and invest where our customers are growing and expanding,” said Aaronson.
Maples will be based at Segra’s office in Columbia, SC.
