Kohl’s Gives $8 Million to More Than 150 Nonprofits Across the Country This Holiday Season
As part of Kohl’s "A Community with Heart” program, Kohl’s associates nominated local nonprofit organizations throughout the country that support family health & wellness
This holiday season, Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) is giving back to those who give so much all year long by surprising more than 150 nonprofits nationwide with a total of $8 million in grants to further each organization’s unique mission. Nominated by Kohl’s associates through Kohl’s A Community with Heart program, which strives to enrich organizations dedicated to family health and wellness, the identified local nonprofits are committed to making a difference for families in local communities across the country. The donations are made possible through Kohl’s philanthropic merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares®, which sells children’s books and toys, and donates 100 percent of the net profit to charitable organizations nationwide that improve the health and wellness of families.
“At Kohl’s, we understand the importance of giving back. That’s why this holiday season, we are honored to celebrate these local nonprofits that generously serve their respective communities with all of their hearts,” said Greg Revelle, Kohl’s chief marketing officer. “These organizations from across the country turn hopes into action. Hand-selected by our associates, the more than 150 nonprofits selected exemplify what it means to serve others and we are proud to provide support that will enable them to expand their efforts.”
More than 150 nonprofits across 49 states will receive grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000. Benefiting organizations include local chapters of American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Ronald McDonald House Charities, National Alliance on Mental Illness, No Kid Hungry, American Heart Association, Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the National Park Foundation, among others, as well as local hospitals and food banks across the country.

- National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southeast Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Wis.) – NAMI Southeast Wisconsin is dedicated to providing advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Kohl’s $50,000 grant will allow the organization to continue to expand their youth outreach and parent support programs in Milwaukee, which the organization strengthened in 2020. The funds will also be used to support NAMI Southeast Wisconsin’s program director who is responsible for overseeing these new programs and the enlargement of youth outreach and family services. Kohl’s recently surprised NAMI Southeast Wisconsin with the news of their grant, which can be viewed here.
- The Autism Society Inland Empire (Corona, Calif.) – The Autism Society Inland Empire is dedicated to its mission of creating connections and empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully. - Food Link (Arlington, MA) – Food Link is a community organization that aspires to have a food system without waste, in which everyone has enough. The organization rescues surplus fresh food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to community organizations serving people in need throughout Eastern Massachusetts. With the $100,000 grant from Kohl’s, Food Link of Arlington, MA, will invest in rescuing more fresh protein, dairy and produce to provide a growing number of local families a great variety of food with nutritional value. - Camp Good Days & Special Times (Rochester, NY) – For more than 40 years, Camp Good Days has provided residential camping programs at their Recreational Facility, located on the shores of Keuka Lake in Branchport, New York, as well as year-round recreational and support activities free of charge, in the Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse, New York areas for children with cancer, sickle cell anemia, and the entire family. At Camp Good Days, participants have the opportunity to regain some of what cancer has taken away from them. This past year, Camp Good Days & Special Times experienced extreme flooding from Keuka Lake which destroyed two cabins and that now need to be taken down as they are uninhabitable. In response to this, Kohl’s $100,000 grant will help expand an existing dormitory that houses campers and volunteers to regain the living space of the two lost cabins. The funds will also be used to finish furnishing Camp Good Days & Special Times’ museum that was put on hold due to the pandemic.
- Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County (Plano, Texas) – The mission of Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County is to provide safety, healing, and justice for victims of child abuse or neglect in the community. The organization’s primary goal is to provide comprehensive, accessible, free services for 100% of children and families in Collin County impacted by, or at risk of, child abuse or neglect. With Kohl’s $100,000 grant, the nonprofit will continue its important work of providing critical services like therapeutic counseling, family advocacy and support services, forensic interviews, and emergency assistance to children and families in crisis.
- Fresh Start (Lincoln, Neb.) – Fresh Start is a transitional shelter that empowers homeless women to change their lives by recognizing and utilizing their strengths to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency. With the $50,000 grant from Kohl’s, Fresh Start will cover programming costs, shelter expenses and renovations, case management, and operating expenses which will continue to assist the nonprofit in its journey to empower women and end homelessness.

Since 2018, Kohl’s Cares has donated more than $19 million to hundreds of local nonprofits nationwide – supporting family health and wellness – through its A Community With Heart program during the holiday season.
