HANGZHOU, CN / ACCESS Newswire / October 8, 2026 / In early October, Hangzhou experienced continuous rain. With crowds and vehicles flocking to key scenic areas, commercial districts, and large-scale event venues in Xihu District, pressure on traffic management intensified significantly. Against this real-world backdrop, DEEP Robotics conducted field testing in early October, deploying a batch of DR02 humanoid robots for practical trials across diverse scenarios in Hangzhou's Xihu District. At Xixi National Wetland Park, the robots faced heavy visitor flows, testing their inquiry and guidance capabilities. At busy urban intersections such as Zheda Road and West Wenyi Road in Lingyin Subdistrict, the DR02 humanoid robots stood guard on the roads, testing functions including intersection traffic control, order maintenance, and tourist consultation-exploring a new path for humanoid robots to participate in traffic management.

Intelligent Duty at Rainy Intersections, Without Interruption

In early October, Hangzhou saw continuous rain. Faced with the outdoor operational pressure brought by rainy weather, DEEP Robotics' DR02 humanoid robots were stationed at key intersections to conduct all-weather duty capability testing.

DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot features IP66-rated whole-machine protection, capable of adapting to outdoor environments with rain and dust. This test focused on validating its continuous operation and uninterrupted duty capabilities under complex weather conditions such as sustained rainfall, accumulating data for product optimization in intersection traffic support scenarios. Leveraging environmental perception and motion control capabilities, the robot can navigate autonomously at intersections, dynamically avoiding pedestrians and vehicles, and flexibly adjusting its position and hand signals for directing traffic according to on-site conditions-testing its adaptability and stability within real traffic flows.

In this test, DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot took on duty and direction tasks in wind and rain, validating the feasibility of the product replacing manual labor for repetitive duties under harsh weather conditions. It also allowed on-site personnel to focus more on traffic organization, emergency response, and public services-tasks requiring human judgment and on-site handling.

Multilingual Interactive Q&A, Serving Domestic and International Tourists

In early October, Hangzhou's West Lake scenic area welcomed a large influx of domestic and international tourists. Demand for inquiries about scenic routes, traffic organization, and traffic restrictions surged, and the sheer volume of repetitive questions quickly consumed the valuable time of on-site personnel who needed to handle emergencies.

At areas with concentrated foot traffic, such as scenic area entrances and exits and intersections near administrative centers, DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot activated its intelligent voice interaction capabilities to conduct multilingual inquiry and guidance function testing, providing visitors with services including route consultation, transportation information, and scenic area guidance. Catering to the language needs of different visitors, the humanoid robot can conduct information inquiries and travel guidance through multilingual interaction, offering corresponding traffic consultation services for international visitors. At the same time, the robot can also conduct traffic safety awareness campaigns based on on-site scenarios, guiding visitors to obey traffic rules and travel safely and civilly.

Through this test, the humanoid robot validated its product capability as an extension of the service window, further reducing the repetitive workload of on-site personnel during peak hours and allowing limited manpower to concentrate more on road traffic organization and emergency handling.

Peak-Hour Road Duty, Human-Robot Collaboration Boosts Efficiency

During periods of heavy traffic, key intersections often face overlapping traffic flows of motor vehicles, e-bikes, and pedestrians. On-site traffic support requires both traffic direction and order maintenance and safety warnings, putting pressure on duty efficiency.

In early October, DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot conducted product testing in peak-hour road duty scenarios. Leveraging visual perception and intelligent recognition capabilities, the humanoid robot can identify behaviors such as e-bike riders not wearing safety helmets, illegal overloading, pedestrians crossing lines, and vehicles stopping beyond lines. It then issues safety reminders and advisories through voice and other means, assisting in maintaining on-site traffic order and eliminating traffic hazards-testing the efficiency improvement space from "robot participating in duty" to "robot-assisted on-site operations." "With many repetitive advisory tasks handed to the robot, we can devote more energy to accident handling and enforcement of key violations-work that requires more human judgment," said an on-site staff member.

From Single-Point Application to Human-Robot Collaboration

In early October, with crowds of visitors and dense traffic flows, the continuous rain added further uncertainty to traffic support. In key areas of Hangzhou's Xihu District, DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot proactively took on repetitive duties in traffic scenarios, completing a high-intensity product field test under demanding weather and traffic conditions.

"We let robots iterate technology in real scenarios and form application closed loops around real needs." Since its founding, DEEP Robotics has consistently adhered to the development logic of "scenarios driving technology, field testing iterating products, and products empowering industries," building a complete closed loop of "technology R&D-field testing-iterative optimization-industry deployment." This field test of the humanoid robot in traffic scenarios validated the possibility of collaborative work among "humans + robots + traffic infrastructure," and also validated the continuous operational capability of DEEP Robotics' humanoid robot under complex weather, dynamic traffic environments, and high-density crowd scenarios.

From support during peak traffic periods to routine traffic duties, humanoid robots are gradually entering urban public service scenarios. For urban smart traffic management systems, a humanoid robot is not just an intelligent device that can "walk"-it is expected to become an intelligent terminal connecting perception, execution, and service. In the future, DEEP Robotics will continue to advance scenario-based applications and product testing of humanoid robots around real business needs, further enhancing their environmental perception, motion control, intelligent interaction, and task execution capabilities, and exploring applications in more scenarios such as traffic management, public services, and urban governance-providing new technological support for the digital and intelligent transformation of urban governance.
