Results of Operations and Financial Condition
On
January 24, 2008, Textron Inc. (“Textron”) issued a press release announcing its
financial results for the fiscal year and quarter ended December 29,
2007. This press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1 and is
incorporated herein by reference.
Textron's
press release contains information regarding
Return On Invested Capital (ROIC), which is a non-GAAP financial measure.
Management believes that ROIC is useful to investors as a measure of performance
and of the effectiveness of the use of capital in its operations.
Management uses ROIC as one measure to monitor and evaluate the performance
of
the company, including for executive compensation purposes.
