Portugal Telecom informs about recent news
Lisbon, Portugal, August 1, 2005 Following recent news (published on the July 30, 2005 edition of the Expresso weekly newspaper), Portugal Telecom informs that it has not made any decision regarding the launching of a public offer of acquisition over Novabase, SGPS, S.A.s shares, nor has this matter been submitted for discussion to its Board of Directors.
As mentioned in previous occasions, Portugal Telecom frequently analyses opportunities for the development and expansion of its activities in the various business where it operates, provided that such opportunities maximize shareholder value.
Portugal Telecom reiterates that, in strict abidance of the law, it has immediately informed investors, and will always inform, on material events that occur in its activity or in its economic and financial situation.
