Metso supplies a power boiler to Keravan Lämpövoima’s new combined heat and power plant in Finland
(Helsinki, Finland, November 19, 2007) — Metso Corporation (NYSE: MX; OMXH: MEO1V)
Metso Power, a part of Metso Paper business area, will supply Keravan Lämpövoima Oy with a power boiler to company’s new combined heat and power plant in Kerava, near Helsinki in Finland. Start-up for the plant is scheduled for the end of 2009. The value of the order is approximately EUR 25 million.
The power boiler (73 MWth) will utilize bubbling fluidized bed technology and will burn peat and forest residue.
The power plant will produce district heat, process heat and electricity to the local energy company Keravan Energia Oy. The new plant can especially ensure the increasing capacity need of district heating to the city of Kerava. With this investment the energy production will be efficient and environmentally friendly by reducing the CO2 emissions.
The power plant will be built by the new company Keravan Lämpövoima Oy, which is owned by the Finnish energy company Pohjolan Voima Oy.
