METSO’S PAPER MACHINE DELIVERY TO STORA ENSO LANGERBRUGGE

(Helsinki, Finland, October 27, 2004) – As reference to Stora Enso’s stock exchange release today, Metso Corporation (NYSE: MX; HEX: MEO) states that the majority of Metso Paper’s cost related to the Langerbrugge paper machine modification have already been booked in Metso Paper’s operating profit before nonrecurring items and amortization of goodwill during the first half of 2004. The rest will be booked in the third quarter of 2004. Metso will publish its January-September Interim Review on Thursday, October 28, 2004.
