Howden Group Selects Softscape for Its Core Human Resources Platform

Softscape, the global leader in people management software, today announced that the Howden Group, a global provider of engineering products, has chosen Softscape’s core Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to manage the company’s worldwide operations. The global rollout of Softscape’s award-winning platform will manage all of Howden’s employee data, on-boarding, diversity, culture, and retention processes.

The Howden Group of companies are wholly owned subsidiaries of Charter International plc (London: CHTR). Established over 150 years ago as a highly skilled engineering firm, Howden has grown to become a worldwide organisation with companies in 16 countries. Their products can be found in virtually every industry, and particularly in those such as power generation, petrochemicals, mining, steelmaking and cement manufacturing, where the most arduous air and gas handling duties are found.

Most companies today are faced with a myriad of HR-related challenges including the need for better access to workforce data and analysis for more informed decision making, inefficient recruitment processes and labour market shortages impacting recruiting quality, lack of visibility into global manpower requirements, risks related to an ageing workforce and its constraints on high potential employees . As part of a global HR transformation project to re-engineer their employee and manager lifecycle, Howden sought to select the most comprehensive HR platform to drive efficiencies and effectiveness across its entire organization.

“We have a clear vision of how human resources will drive top- and bottom-line growth for our business,” Donna Malone, HR Director, Howden. “Softscape is providing us with the required technology platform to achieve this vision, and the experience to help us run it. Our goals are being realised with one single system from which to manage our global workforce and drive our future growth.”

Howden is deploying Softscape’s HR platform including its powerful Workforce Analytics software. The new system offers Howden a global view of real-time employee data providing accurate management information.

Howden’s HR technology strategy also includes the implementation of complete talent management processes, including the integration of performance management, succession planning, and compensation planning, underpinned by a global competency framework, will provide better visibility of presence and location of skills and resources to inform and enable more effective workforce planning. Having this global method of analysing, managing, and communicating workforce information also helps maintain a more effective method of accessing the labour market and recruiting globally.

“A scalable platform like Softscape can facilitate seamless integration of every aspect of an organisation’s workforce, in one location,” said Dave Watkins, Softscape CEO and co-founder. “Having one comprehensive global repository of talent information means having audit capability across all HR processes that can mitigate risk and drive quality, efficiencies, and regulatory compliance to leading organizations such as Howden.”
