Your Right Time Right Place Moment

For God’s reason and purpose, there is a time and place, a season for everything.

You were created for a specific purpose, a reason for living.

Moreover, meant to play a key role in God’s grand plan.

The Bible is filled with stories of everyday people who answered God’s call.

One such person was a young woman by the name of Hadassah.

There are four main characters in this story.

  • Young Hadassah, also known as Esther
  • Mordecai, cousin of Hadassah and the man who raised her
  • King Xerxes, also known as King Ahasuerus
  • Haman the Agagite

Today’s story is about how young Esther realized that God had put her in the palace for a specific purpose.

Change Is Inevitable

Have you had your right place right time moment yet?

Hadassah did at a young age.

Because, as the story goes King Xerxes summoned his Queen (Vashti) by messenger one day.

Vashti refused to come to the King.

As a result, the King’s anger boiled over.

The King, humiliated was driven to act.

He banished Vashti from his presence and the kingdom!

What’s more, it was suggested that he find a new Queen.

From Commoner to Queen

Esther 2:7; Mordecai had a cousin named Hadassah, whom he had brought up because she had neither father nor mother.

This young woman, who was also known as Esther, had a lovely figure and was beautiful.

Mordecai had taken her as his own daughter when her father and mother died.”

Beautiful women from all over were brought into the King’s harem.

For the purpose of one of them replacing Vashti and becoming the new queen.

Hadassah, also known as Esther was one of these women.

Because of her beauty, of all the women, King Xerxes was attracted most to Esther.

So, he set a royal crown on her head, made her Queen and gave her a royal banquet.

A Plot Thickens

Cousin Mordecai had a habit of sitting outside the King’s gate fairly regularly.

As a result, one day he overheard two of the King’s officer’s, Bigthana and Teresh hatching a plot to assassinate Xerxes!

This was Mordecai’s right place right time moment.

He quickly informed Queen Esther.

Who in turn reported it to the King.

An Investigation followed.

Bigthana and Teresh were executed by hanging!

Wanted: Royal Advisor

After the execution the King elevated Haman the Agagite and gave him a seat of honor higher than that of all other nobles.

Despite Haman’s new position, Mordecai refused to kneel down or pay him honor.

As a result, Haman became enraged!

He somehow convinced the King that it would be in his best interest to exterminate a race of people who refused to obey the King’s laws.

Haman wanted to exterminate the Jews!

All because of Mordecai’s behavior toward him.

Extreme as it was, the wheels were set in motion and the King decreed that Haman’s wish be so.

You’re Here For A Purpose, A Specific Reason

Time for Esther’s right time right place moment.

Mordecai learned of Haman’s plot and tore his clothes.

Put on sackcloth and ashes and wailed loudly in the open square!

Word of Mordecai’s distress reached Esther and she sent one of the King’s eunuchs, Hathach, to see Mordecai.

Mordecai told Hathach everything.

And as a result Hathach went back to Esther and told her all that Mordecai had said.

Although she was now Queen.

In truth, Esther’s opinion mattered little at that moment in time.

As a matter of fact, Esther like everyone else knew that the punishment, for any man or woman approaching the King in the inner court without being summoned, was death!

Putting Others Before Self

The Queen sent word back to Mordecai asking him to gather together all the Jews in Susa and to have them fast for her.

Esther acted courageously, put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the royal palace.

Because he was pleased with her, the King held out to her the gold scepter in his hand.

Esther 5:3-8; “Then the king asked, “What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given you.”

“If it pleases the king,” replied Esther, “let the king, together with Haman, come today to a banquet I have prepared for him.”

“Bring Haman at once,” the king said, “so that we may do what Esther asks.”

So the king and Haman went to the banquet Esther had prepared.

As they were drinking wine, the king again asked Esther, “Now what is your petition? It will be given you. And what is your request?

Even up to half the kingdom, it will be granted.”

Esther replied, “My petition and my request is this:

If the king regards me with favor and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them.

Then I will answer the king’s question.”

Right Time and Place

The King was more than happy to fulfill Esther’s request.

The night before the banquet, not being able to sleep, the King reading through the book of the chronicles was reminded of Mordecai’s selfless act in reporting Bigthana and Teresh’s plot.

As a result at the banquet.

Esther 6:6-11; When Haman entered, the king asked him, “What should be done for the man the king delights to honor?”

Now Haman thought to himself,

“Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?”

So he answered the king,

“For the man the king delights to honor, have them bring a royal robe the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head.

Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes.

Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!’”

“Go at once,” the king commanded Haman. “Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended.”

So Haman got the robe and the horse. He robed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, “This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!”

Needless to say, Haman was not happy.

Because he was ordered to honor the very man he despised, Mordecai!

There’s more.

The Queen invited the King and Haman to the second banquet and made her request known.

Esther 7:3-6; Then Queen Esther answered, “If I have found favor with you, Your Majesty, and if it pleases you, grant me my life—this is my petition.

And spare my people—this is my request.

For I and my people have been sold to be destroyed, killed and annihilated.

If we had merely been sold as male and female slaves, I would have kept quiet, because no such distress would justify disturbing the king.“

King Xerxes asked Queen Esther, “Who is he?

Where is he—the man who has dared to do such a thing?”

Esther said, “An adversary and enemy! This vile Haman!”

Caught in his very own evil web.

Haman’s motives were not pure of heart.

As a result, they did him in.
