This new office in Buffalo’s Southtowns region is home to the practice’s newest physician, Deepan Selvadurai, M.D., an experienced, board certified ophthalmologist, glaucoma specialist, and cataract surgeon. He officially joined the practice on Friday, November 13th.

Dr. Deepan, as he’s known at the practice to differentiate himself from his wife, Dr. Ausra Selvadurai, is excited to bring both his expertise and extend Buffalo Ophthalmology’s brand of specialty eye care to more patients across Western New York.

Dr. Deepan will be the main physician at the new Orchard Park office, where he’ll provide diagnosis and management of glaucoma cases, as well as surgical and non-surgical methods of treatment. Additionally, he’ll handle the bulk of the practice’s cataract surgery cases.

Dr. Deepan has been a leader in glaucoma care for years, having trained at some of the top institutions in the North America, including the Mayo Clinic, the University of Toronto, and Northwestern University. Among the innovative procedures he’s pioneered for patients in Western New York is a 15-minute procedure belonging to a group of surgeries called Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).

He’ll be joined by Ausra Selvadurai, M.D., a retina and uveitis specialist with training at the renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and Asha Kumar, M.D. Dr. Kumar is one of the leading corneal specialists and cataract surgeons in the region, having performed tens of thousands of vision-saving procedures on countless patients in Western New York and beyond.
