DESCRIPTION:

In honor of World Kindness Day 2020, a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself and to the world, ON Semiconductor employees based in Germany shared their kindness. They recently lent a helping hand to a local charity in Munich called, Salberghaus, which provides a wide range of inpatient, semi-inpatient and outpatient services, as well as in day-care centers for children between the ages of two weeks and 10 years, and their families.

This day, celebrated on November 13th of each year, is intended to help everyone understand that compassion for others is what binds us together. This understanding has the power to bridge the gap between nations.

Even with the current COVID-19 conditions, Salberghaus continues to operate at full capacity and the need to keep their staff and guests healthy is of the utmost importance. They needed to obtain additional protective gear (masks, protective clothing, sanitizers, etc.) to keep their environment safe and ready in the event of positive COVID-19 cases in their facilities. The charity currently has 63 children that are currently living in their residential and emergency reception groups.

ON Semiconductor’s global giving program donated to the charity to support these efforts. In addition to this contribution, employees locally also collected protective masks and sanitizers to donate to Salberghaus.

Our team in Germany has had the pleasure of supporting Salberghaus for almost five years. Employees look forward to our annual holiday donations drives, where we collect diapers, childcare products, toothbrushes and toothpaste, baby clothes, bicycles, etc. We have also funded, thorough our global giving program and private donations, playground equipment and personnel development projects to help the Salberghaus grow their mission. When our employees spend time volunteering at their site (garden clean-ups, renewing the sand in the children sandpits, painting their facilities, etc.), we are always happy to see all the children having fun. The current pandemic brings additional challenges and we wanted to make sure that our friends could stay safe during these difficult times. Salberghaus has a difficult task at-hand and with this donation, we hope it can help them bring a smile to children’s faces!

Salberghaus’ facility manager, Agnes Gschwendtner, shared: “We can never close like kindergartens or office buildings. We need to look after the children enrolled on our programs seven days a week, 24 hours a day. We do a lot to ensure that children and employees areinfected with COVID-19 but we cannot rule out every risk. It is therefore very important, in case of an infection, that we are able to limit the diffusion in the house to as few people as possible. Protective equipment such as masks are particularly important for our cross-group specialist services: speech therapists, psychologists, curative teachers, etc. In the case a child becomes ill, which we would of course continue to care for, we take all the necessary precautions by using protective gowns, sanitizers, gloves, etc. We are available for emergencies so that we can quickly open a ‘positive group’ in which children are looked after in a stable manner and the protection of employees and the rest of the Salberghaus is fully guaranteed. We are very grateful for the donation from ON Semiconductor, which supports us in this task.”
