Profile: CEO of Stocktwits

Where to Find Him: LinkedIn, Twitter

Fun Fact: Rishi enjoys telling Howard ‘NO’

What’s the Panic About:

This was a very exciting episode because not only did I have Stocktwits CEO RIshi Khanna on, but it was also his first podcast ever! We were initially introduced through our mutual friend Dave Moon, and I guess you could say the rest is history. He’s a great guy whom I’ve enjoyed working with as part of our growing Stocktwits community. Before leading the team over at Stocktwits, Rishi has worn many hats ranging from engineering, product, sales, client service, finance and operations. On this episode, we discussed the markets, data, fintech, working in New York during COVID-19 (and what has surprised him most about the pandemic), how he got his start in fintech, the culture of media, ecommerce and what we can expect from Stocktwits in the future. Enjoy!

The Takeaway:

I loved getting Rishi’s thoughts on this intersection of media and fintech. As Rishi discusses this episode, tech is this amazing machine that will continue to march forward whether we want to keep up or not. An idea not done just gets easier tomorrow. So if you want to succeed, you’re going to need to keep up.

Favorite Quotes:

“There is so much more to give to users and so much more value to deliver beyond just allowing them to connect from a social feed.”

“Media to me is how you give people what they’re looking for where they are.”

“The unique thing about finance is that being live matters.”

Food for Thought:

Rishi touched on Stocktwits’ upcoming charity poker tournament. The first ever Chips for Charity event aims to raise awareness and promote diversity throughout the financial sector, with proceeds going to Wall Street Bound. The event is November 21 at 2 p.m. EST. PS – I am now doing two ‘Panic With Friends’ podcasts per week. Thanks for listening and make sure you subscribe over on Spotify or Apple.
