Advisory and Training Firm Announces New Service to Better Tackle Gender Conflicts in the Workplace

NEW YORK - January 15, 2019 - (Newswire.com)

Leadership12, an advisory and training firm, has announced a confidential mediation, coaching and training service that educates business owners, professionals and HR on how to better tackle gender dynamics in the workplace. Based in New York City, the service comes on the heels of the #MeToo movement and NYC’s recent passing of its Model Sexual Harassment Policy and Training laws.

Leadership12 is designed to develop a company’s emerging leaders by arming them with the mindset and skills to resolving gender conflict in the workplace. Through various insights and approaches, the Leadership12 program allows women in organizations to expand their leadership roles, while helping men understand their role in making the workplace safer, more inclusive and collaborative.

Founders, Elizabeth Clemants and James Kornbluh, Hold Decades of Experience

Leadership12 was founded by Elizabeth Clemants and James Kornbluh who together have a combined 40+ years of experience with conflict mediation, leadership training, legal negotiations and coaching in personal and professional growth.

Clemants has more than 22 years of experience mediating conflict between managers and employees. She has been a certified mediation trainer for the New York State Unified Court System since 2000. She has also been featured as a conflict-resolution expert with Crain’s New York, Inc Magazine, PIX11 Morning News and Female Entrepreneur.

“Finding methods to bridge conflict in the workplace is paramount to making the office a comfortable and empowering place to work for everyone,” Clemants said. “That starts with developing leadership to the point that company employees, leadership or otherwise, can all feel respected and valued in the work that they execute.”

Kornbluh, a 20-year lawyer and law professor with experience in mediating business conflicts and advising and facilitating cultural evolution in professional environments, says it’s important to keep in mind the fallout that can occur from gender conflicts in the workplace.

“We are witnessing tremendous conflict, change and disruption in our society and workplaces – look at the phenomenon of the #MeToo movement,” Kornbluh said. “This is just the tip of the iceberg. These conflicts and other diversity frictions in the workplace can be costly, not just in a financial sense, but in an interpersonal and legal sense.”

The 12 Fundamental Principles and Safe Workplace Series

The Leadership12 program features a multi-step foundation, known as the 12 Fundamental Principles, from which the program derives its main teaching points. Of these steps, some of the key principles for CEOs and business leaders to follow are relating to everyone as equals and cultivating a workplace culture that promotes inclusion and promotion of diverse viewpoints.

“Leadership is not just about taking charge, it’s about making space safe for diverse empowered perspectives so the collective wisdom will surface,” reads the mission statement for the 12 Fundamental Principles.

Leadership12’s Safe Workplace Series is leadership, team and culture enrichment that uses the #MeToo movement as a doorway into learning what business owners, professionals and HR should do to build safe, diverse and inclusive workplaces. Leadership12 partners with HR and the C-suite to design custom solutions that develop leadership, strengthen teams and set a safe work culture.

Leadership12’s Safe Workplace Series arrives following NY’s implementation of its Model Sexual Harassment Policy and Training laws. Beginning in January 2019, all New York employers must submit an affirmation that they have a sexual harassment policy and that they provide annual experiential training to all of their employees.

Recently put into effect, the laws require employers to adopt a sexual harassment prevention policy and training – or use a similar policy and training program that meets or exceeds the law’s minimum standards.

Executive Confidential Advice

A main service the Leadership12 program will offer is “executive confidential” advisory-based services. This includes confidential advice ranging from assessing a crisis or tense situation in the workplace to mediation and coaching services for leaders to find the proper repairative resolution, and put into place the mechanisms for prevention.

These services, Kornbluh said, are targeted for leaders in business and social enterprise who find themselves or their teams embroiled in workplace conflict, team division, or other large rifts that appear in work settings related to gender dynamics.

Another key message that Clemants and Kornbluh hope business owners and professionals take away from their program is the ability to harness their own skills to bring out the best of their teams in the way of talent and diversity.

“Being a leader is about far more than expertise,” Clemants said. “Leaders have the power to resolve and transform conflict into creative innovation and motivation. That’s the crux behind Leadership12: turning negative aspects of a workplace relationship into a positive one.”
