•       TYPE A Cable is the standard HDMI cable used for uncompressed PC or TV video format;

•       TYPE B Cable is still available, though it's never been used;

•       TYPE C Cable comes with variations depending on how it's used on handheld devices, such as camcorders and DSLR cameras;

•       TYPE D Cable is the micro connector for high-definition video connectivity for handheld gadgets, such as cellular phones; and

•       Type E Cable is mainly compatible with automotive applications.

Various devices already use these cables including:

•       (a) high-definition sources, such as HD-DVD players, Blu-Ray Discs, audio/video monitors and A/V receivers;

•       (b) set-top box;

•       (c) video games – to create more detailed pictures and better viewing experience, HDMI cables are used for split-screen viewing and gaming units, such as the PSP and X-box; and

•       (d) display devices, such as LCD TVs, monitors, computer monitors and other viewing devices for excellent broadcasting.
