LOS ANGELES - Nov. 13, 2018 - PRLog -- Agenda: A Matter of Style celebrates individuality and untraditional beauty. Celebrity stylist Ty-Ron Mayes and cover model Maria Borges are featured in this Nov./Dec. 2018 issue. Borges is also featured in the editorial "Selfie and the City," photographed by Ken Gray. Agenda's Editor-in-Chief Kaylene Peoples interviews Ty-Ron Mayes in "Fashion Trailblazers," which featured J Alexander, Shari Belafonte, and others in past issues. Mayes shares his styling tips, talks about America's Next Top Model and the Top Model franchise worldwide.

As the editor of three magazines, how does he find the time to style celebrities and finish his much-anticipated book, scheduled to publish in 2019, just in time for his 25-year anniversary as a stylist? Ty-Ron has styled Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, Oprah, and others; and he has 125 magazine covers under his belt!

About the Cover Model
Two years ago, Maria Borges decided to do something drastic in her career. The Victoria's Secret model decided to free herself from the typical hair weaves and relaxers Black models customarily wore. She cut her hair into an Afro. Unbeknownst to Borges, her short, cropped hair would eventually become her signature look. Since then, L'Oreal offered Maria Borges a worldwide contract. Once again, the all-natural African beauty was requested to stay true to herself, and to continue to wear her natural hair. Now, we have witnessed many Black models on the runway rocking a "Maria Borges" inspired Afro, and she has become a leader in the Black beauty industry.

"I was thrilled to put Maria on our cover. She is a stunning woman with natural beauty. Ty-Ron Mayes and Ken Gray captured her essence, and I couldn't imagine a better fit for this issue. With Ty-Ron at the Helm, the issue was appropriately titled 'A Matter of Style.'" —Kaylene Peoples, Agenda Editor-in-Chief

Throughout his career, Ty-Ron has brought many models to worldwide exposure, even those that didn't fit the traditional "fashion" mold.

"I was always working with these perfectly beautiful Barbie doll come-to-life supermodels, and I decided I wanted to start working with different types of people, more interesting people and not just cookie cutter beauties. So I started shooting with Zombie Boy. I started shooting with Diandra Forrest and Shawn Ross, who eventually became the first albino supermodels. And when I went on Top Model, Winnie Harlow (the girl with the vitiligo) walked in. I said, 'You're going to be a star. You're going to be a supermodel!'" –Ty-Ron Mayes

In the fall of 2014, Kaylene Peoples invited Ty-Ron Mayes as guest editor in the very first print, special edition of Agenda "Fall Is Fascinating."  Mayes wrote about Rick Genest aka Zombie Boy and styled a unique fashion editorial "Zombie Boy Creeps It Real," which is now iconic. Tragically, Zombie Boy passed away last August 2018. Ty-Ron talks about his untimely death in this issue.

Additionally, Ty-Ron styles beautiful fashion editorials with Maria Borges, Kelly LeBrock, Phil Sullivan, and designer Christian Siriano featuring Thaynà Santos. Other highlights in Agenda Issue #6 are interviews from "Arting Around" with actress Lea Thompson, recording artist Freda Payne, and Tito Jackson and the B.B. King's Blues Band. Enjoy the Beauty Section's reviews, and The Editor's Letter "Fashion Talk." Lastly, meet Ash Gupta's Face of the Month Mariam Zol.
