Inland Empire Credit Union Receives National Recognition

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - October 16, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

At a time when many Inland Empire residents look to Orange and Los Angeles counties for work, Altura Credit Union has been recognized as the nation’s eleventh-best credit union to work for by a leading industry publication, Credit Union Journal.

Additionally, Altura was the top-ranked credit union in California and ranked fourth in the nation within its asset size of $1 billion or more.

Rankings for Credit Union Journal’s “Best Credit Unions to Work for” program is based on feedback that employees give about their employer through a survey questionnaire. In May, employees at Altura and other credit unions began submitting their surveys.

Some of the reasons cited for Altura’s high performance were “free on-site fitness classes,” “paid Spanish-language training” and a holiday tradition called “holiday hookup” that allows employees to write in about their dream gift for themselves or a family member for the chance of being chosen by a selection committee.

“We are thrilled to once again have been recognized in this esteemed, nationwide ranking,” said Jennifer Binkley, chief executive officer of Altura Credit Union.

“For us, it reflects how much we value our employees and it communicates to job-seekers in the Inland Empire that Altura is a top place to work for and have a career.”

Despite the fact that the Inland Empire’s job market and economy have been growing since the recession, commute time for workers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties remain some of the highest in the country and the percentage of commuters in both counties remains some of the highest in the state.

Based in the Inland Empire for 60 years, Altura Credit Union serves more than 125,000 members, has $1.356 billion in total assets and operates 13 branch offices in Riverside County. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Riverside and San Diego counties; selected cities in San Bernardino and Orange counties; as well as U.S. military, U.S. government and civilian employees working at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside County; and retirees of the United States Armed Forces.
