Port Houston Selects CyrusOne for Data Center and Interconnection Services

CyrusOne (NASDAQ: CONE), a premier global data center REIT, today announced that it has been selected by Port Houston for data center services, cloud access, interconnection services, disaster recovery and business continuity.

“Over 16% of the Texas gross domestic product flows through the Greater Port of Houston, and as a public entity it is imperative that we utilize our resources wisely," said Charles Thompson, chief information officer, Port Houston. "Our new data center strategy provides a resilient, high performance, cloud-ready infrastructure that supports the efficient processing of freight that passes through the Port at a rate of one tractor-trailer every eight seconds. In a budget-friendly manner we have enhanced our interactions with the Department of Homeland Security, improved our disaster readiness, and are better positioned to serve all of Port Houston's stakeholders."

Port Houston’s infrastructure will now be connected to the CyrusOne National Internet Exchange (National IX), which delivers interconnection between other CyrusOne locations across the country. CyrusOne’s direct access to cloud providers will also be utilized.

“The logistical and compliance demands of Port Houston are unique, and as a result they needed a highly-customized solution to prepare their technology estate for both their significant current needs as well as the likelihood of changing future requirements,” said Caroline Brelsford, area vice president, Central region, CyrusOne. “We are pleased that after a thorough review of all available options they have chosen CyrusOne for their data center infrastructure and networking needs.”

CyrusOne operates 45 data center facilities across the United States, Europe, and Asia to provide customers with the flexibility and scale to match their specific IT growth needs. CyrusOne facilities are engineered to include the power-density infrastructure required to deliver high availability, including architecture with the highest available power redundancy (2N).
