Freska Produce International, LLC today announced that the company is expanding its Avocado reach with its purchase of California Avocado Packer, Harvest Time Produce, Inc., Oceanside CA.  Freska, already a global leader in Mangos, with this entry into the prestigious California Avocado program and its already existing Mexican avocado program will make it a true year round program.  This new commodity will substantially increase Freska’s overall avocado activity and will provide its customers with more value added choices with its new packing plant in Oceanside.  Consumers continue to demand fresh avocados and this will enable Freska to position itself as a year round provider of Avocados with the purchase of Harvest Time and give its customers the ability to offer all the best avocados available. 

Harvest Time Produce was formed in 1985 packing mostly hass avocados along with other commodities like citrus.  For 30 years, Harvest Time Produce has been located at 303 Via Del Monte in Oceanside, California. Taking advantage of the growing category and eventually focusing just on Hass Avocados, Harvest Time offered avocado growers in San Diego County packing houses services.  During the late 80’s and 90s, California was the dominant source for Hass Avocados, and as their popularity grew so did Harvest Times avocado business.  In the beginning, a mobile sizing machine taken to the avocado groves to “field” pack Hass Avocados.  During the next few years a more permanent sizing machine was installed as demand for California Hass continued to increase.  Since 1985, Harvest Time has been one of the original 13 handlers of California Hass Avocados, and one of the original avocado packing houses in the state.  As demand continued to expand in 2002 with imported avocados from Mexico and Chile, Harvest Time continued to meet the demand for California avocados by installing a larger packing line, and bagging equipment in 2010.
