New Study Claims That Jin Shin Jyutsu Helps Cancer Patients

A recent study shows that Jin Shin Jyutsu, which uses gentle touch to harmonize energy within the body, has been shown to be effective at relieving pain and nausea in people with cancer who are suffering with the aftereffects of cancer treatment.

The independent study, which was done at the Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky, involved 159 cancer patients who ranked their pain, nausea and stress on a scale of zero to 10 before and after receiving Jin Shin Jyutsu therapy.

Participants in the study reported an average two-point reduction in pain and nausea and three-point reduction in stress after their first and subsequent Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions.

Jane Pritchard, a Jin Shn Jyutsu practitioner in Santa Rosa, Ca is excited to see the results of this study but not surprised.

"Jin Shin Jyutsu can promote balance and improvement in most everyone, from people who are healthy but feeling run down or stressed, to people with ongoing health issues that they have been dealing with for years."

Jin Shin Jyutsu is similar in technique to acupuncture, but does not involve needles. Instead of needles being placed strategically around the body, a Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner lightly touches certain points on the body, where energy (or chi) locks up and can cause imbalance and tension. Adjusting these energy points works on the emotional, physical, and mental health of the body.

The practice has been used for centuries to benefit the immune system and prevent many illnesses. It also allows healing to occur at a faster pace. The study was done on patients whose immune systems were relatively low, due to cancer and cancer treatments. The results of the study show that many of the subjects were more energetic and less ill overall after a Jin Shin Jyutsu session.

"I'm a believer," says Matt, a Jin Shin Jyutsu client. "I've always been a skeptic, especially when it comes to holistic medicine, but this is amazing. After my first session, I had so much more energy and didn't hurt in places that had hurt for years. Not only am I a believer, I'm now an advocate."

Jane Pritchard received her certification and basic training from Jin Shin Jyutsu, Inc. She received her advanced training in techniques from the Jin Shin Institute, and has been a practitioner and teacher of the art since 1988.
