The TJX Companies, Inc. Announces 29% Increase in Common Stock Dividend

The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE:TJX), the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, today announced that its Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend in the amount of $.09 per share, representing a 29% increase in the per share amount from the last dividend paid. The dividend is payable May 31, 2007, to shareholders of record on May 10, 2007.

Carol Meyrowitz, President and Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc. stated, I am pleased to report that our Board of Directors has voted this 29% increase in our dividend to shareholders, which reflects our continued confidence in the financial strength of the Company, our business and our ability to drive profitable sales growth. In addition to significantly increasing the dividend, we remain committed to pursuing our share repurchase program. As we previously announced, in January 2007, our Board of Directors authorized the purchase of $1.0 billion of TJX common stock, which is in addition to the $436 million remaining under our existing program. We continue to expect to repurchase $900 million of TJX stock in 2007.
