Kulkarni, will give the keynote address today at the Data Center World Fall 2010 Conference at the Mirage Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas. His topic, “Data Security in a Fast-Moving Mobile World,” will address the expanding data security risk posed by mobile computing and removable media devices, such as smart phones, tablets, USB flash drives, external hard disk drives, laptops, magnetic tape and optical discs. Kulkarni will examine best practices and advancements in securing removable storage media, including physical security, encryption and multiple levels of authentication.

Kulkarni leads Imation’s global Research, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing functions and is a recognized industry expert in data storage and archive technologies spanning magnetic, optical, flash and hard disk drive storage formats. Kulkarni holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds eight U.S. patents. Kulkarni serves on the Boards of Directors for CyberOptics (NASDAQ: CYBE) and the Minnesota High Technology Association (MHTA).
