The TJX Companies, Inc. Reports February 2007 Sales

The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TJX) today reported February 2007 sales results. Sales for the four-week period ended March 3, 2007, were $1.2 billion, up 6% over the $1.1 billion achieved during the four-week period ended March 4, 2006. For the four-week period ended March 3, 2007, consolidated comparable store sales increased 2% over last year.

Carol Meyrowitz, President and Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc., stated, While February comparable store sales came in as expected, we believe that the very harsh winter weather throughout many regions of the U.S. as we were transitioning our stores to spring apparel, had a dampening effect on our results. Our stores look extremely fresh and, with great liquidity in our inventories, we are well positioned to take advantage of opportunistic buys and flow exciting fashions and brands at compelling values to our stores.
